Every parent expecting a little girl will call her "princess" at least once in her lifetime. Young parents, who think they are living life in a fairy tale, may even name their child after one of the magical Disney princesses without even knowing what it means.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, the meaning of a name went un- noticed but that is not the case anymore. Find out what each Disney princess name really means and find out if they will be acceptable for your little princess.

Originally there were only 8 princesses: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan. Later came Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida and the newest and not even out yet, Moana.

Snow is an English girl's name and it means "fair skinned". This name fits the Disney character well but is it a suitable name for a baby girl? Merida is a Latin name that means "one who has achieved a high place of honor". She was an energetic adventurous little girl who refused to choose a husband. She wanted to live life as a kid and enjoy life like a common little girl and not a princess.
